LOVE AAJ KAL
Starring: Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rahul Khanna, Rishi Kapoor
A bankable actor- Sai Ali Khan, his first production, a beautiful actress: Deepika, a director with 100% hit record. LOVE AAJ KAL has all the ingredients of being striking a chord with the movie-goer.
The film is a mirror of the phobia that we: the youth of India has with commitment to a partner and their views on long-distance relationship "jo chalta nahi hai" and can't decide that whether they LOVE a person or it is just ghoomna-firna that they want out of a relationship.
Saif does play his character wth so much ease, seems that he has perfected the art of getting into character that are real and believable; and very much - Specially the scenes where he seems confused and still rabbles, "I am okay.. everything is okay"....
Deepika is again the pleasure for the eyes with a beautiful smile and a lovely face. But when it comes to emoting, her face looks pale and she doesn't look and soud convincing when she tries to break-free after her marriage (to Rahiul Khanna).
Imtiaz Ali again shows that he is a fine director: he chose a OKish script and relies heavily on his dialogues to portray the aaj kal ke pyaar ka scenario. He doesn't use any heavy-duty dailogues or melodramatic and a dragged climax to the script.
Music by Pritam is good (yet again).
But overall, the film has its downs. In the name of being REALISTIC, the films shows a couple that is TOO confused. It really seems absurd when Deepika tells Rahul Khanna that she still has something for Saif the very next day of her marriage. These might be taken from real-life instances, but the scene fails to make an impact.
Overall, worth a watch, but not as great ans certainly not in the same league as Socha Na Tha or Jab We Met. Watch it with no-expectations and you would come out of the theatre a satisifed viewer.
